The Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship is a global competition that tests students’ skills on Microsoft Office applications. Participating in this competition provides you with an excellent opportunity for you to showcase your Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills, have some fun, impress student colleagues and gain recognition. How do I enter a qualifying exam?
- Enter an Exam at the Time of Testing: While sitting for a MOS 2013 Word, Excel®, PowerPoint® exam or MOS 2010 Word or Excel® or PowerPoint® exam, you will be prompted to participate in the Championship. Before the exam begins, a screen will appear with competition information and an opt-in checkbox (checked by default). To submit your exam into the Championship, leave the check box checked and then select the OK button. If you pass, your exam will automatically be submitted into the Championship. If you do not want to submit your exam, then you can opt out of the competition by clearing the checkbox.
- Enter an Exam You’ve Already Completed: Did you complete and pass a qualifying exam but did not select to enter it into the Championship? You can still enter your exam for a chance to be the next World Champion! Simply follow these steps:
- Login to your Candidate Home Page
- Click on the Championship link
- Select the exam you would like to enter into the Championship
- Select ‘Register Selected Exams’ button

Testing Center Information
How students can participate
- While sitting for a MOS 2013 Word, Excel®, PowerPoint® exam or MOS 2010 Word, Excel®, PowerPoint® exam, students will be prompted to participate in the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship. Before the exam begins, a screen will appear with competition information and an opt–in checkbox (checked by default). If the student wishes, he/she can opt out of the competition by clearing the checkbox.
- If the student passes the exam and has left the opt–in button checked, he or she will be entered into the competition.
- At the end of the competition qualifying round, Certiport Solution Providers within each region will contact top students to advance them to the next round. In some countries, participation in a Regional or Country Championship may be required. For more details about participation within your country, contact your Certiport Solution Provider, or email Certiport at MOSchampionship@pearson.com.
World Championship details:
- Dates for the first round of testing: The Qualifying Round ends June 15th, 2015. Please note that this date may vary by region, and contact your Certiport Solution Provider for more details about participation within your country.
- Previous participants of the World Championship round can compete in this year’s championship ONLY if they are competing in a different exam. For example, if a student competed at a prior World Championship round in Microsoft Excel® 2010, they can participate this year in any Microsoft Word or PowerPoint® exam but they cannot participate in any Microsoft Excel® exam.
- Certiport Authorized Partners are required to choose the student(s) that will represent their regions in the World Championship round of the competition in Dallas, Texas by June 30, 2015. Partners are also required to assist these students in submitting completed Student Confirmation Packets to Certiport no later than June 30, 2015.
- Students must be between the ages of 13 and 22 (as of June 15, 2015) in order to participate in the World Championship in Dallas, Texas.

IT Academy Information
How students can prepare:
Students can prepare for their certification exams and the MOS World Championship competition using the curriculum and lesson planning materials offered through their school by the Microsoft IT Academy (ITA) program. This program provides schools flexible curriculum, customizable lesson plans and professional development opportunities for teachers.
How students can participate:
- While sitting for a MOS 2013 Word, Excel®, PowerPoint® exam or MOS 2010 Word, Excel®, PowerPoint® exam, students will be prompted to participate in the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship. Before the exam begins, a screen will appear with competition information and an opt–in checkbox (checked by default). If the student wishes, he/she can opt out of the competition by clearing the checkbox.

- If a student from a Microsoft IT Academy is named as a national champion as part of the country’s competition qualifying round and is eligible to compete in the MOS World Championship but does not have financial sponsorship from the Certiport Solution Provider, they may contact MOSchampionship@pearson.com to apply for financial assistance from the MOS World Championship sponsorship fund. Funding for travel/lodging is not guaranteed, but may be awarded on a case by case basis, depending on availability.
- Students must be between the ages of 13 and 22 (as of June 15, 2015) in order to participate in the World Championship in Dallas, Texas.

In its 13th year, the 2014 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship attracted more than 400,000 unique candidates from 130 countries who competed to demonstrate their mastery of Microsoft Office products. 123 student finalists participated in the final round of competition.

What is Certiport's Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship?
The 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship presented by Certiport, Inc. is a global competition that tests students’ skills on Microsoft Office Word, Excel® and PowerPoint®. Top students are invited to represent their respective countries at the World Championship. At the World Championship Event, each student competes for World Champion in his or her category (Microsoft Word 2013, Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft Excel® 2013, Microsoft Excel® 2010, Microsoft Office PowerPoint® 2013, and Microsoft Office PowerPoint® 2010). In some countries or regions, students are required to participate in a regional test event as well, and the winners of that event continue on to the World Championship.

How do I participate in the Championship?
Participating competitors may enter the Championship (Qualifying Round) in either of two ways:
Register Eligible Exam Immediately Prior to Testing: If the eligible Exam is taken at an ACADEMIC Certiport Authorized Testing Center, the exam delivery tool will prompt the student to register his/her score into the Championship immediately prior to taking the exam. If the candidate chooses to submit his/her score to the Championship, the results of that exam will be automatically entered into the Championship.
Register Eligible Exam(s) Following Testing: Students may also register any eligible Exam(s) after taking the exam(s) by logging onto their Candidate Home Page at www.certiport.com, clicking on the Championship link, and following the registration instructions. Eligible Exams registered using this tool must be registered during the official Championship dates of the country in which the eligible Exam(s) was taken. Eligible Exams taken by students at any COMMERCIAL Certiport Authorized Testing Center may also be registered using this tool.
Who can participate in the Championship?
Anyone may participate in the qualification round of testing, but to participate in the World Championship, candidates must be students that are enrolled in an approved, degree-seeking academic institution recognized by the state or country in which it operates. Students must also be between the ages of 13 and 22 (as of June 15, 2015). Students participating in the World Championship must be able to provide proof of age and student status upon request. Employees of Certiport, Inc., the sponsoring Certiport Authorized Partner, their affiliates, subsidiaries, parent and related companies and agencies and those individuals living in the same household as employees are not eligible. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. By taking an eligible Exam and entering this Championship, participants agree to abide by all terms of these Official Rules.
Previous participants of the World Championship Round ARE eligible for the 2015 Championship. However, they cannot compete in the Exam they previously competed in during a World Championship Round. For example, a student who competed in Microsoft Excel® (2010 or 2013) during a previous year’s World Championship Round, can compete in Microsoft Word or PowerPoint® in the Qualifying Round and the World Championship Round of this year’s competition.
Can students at an IT Academy participate?
Yes, students at Microsoft IT Academies are encouraged to participate. Many of those students participating prepare for the competition using the curriculum and lesson planning materials offered through their school by the Microsoft IT Academy (ITA) program. This program provides schools flexible curriculum, customizable lesson plans and professional development opportunities for teachers. What versions of Microsoft Office will the 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship include?
The 2015 World Championship will include the following six (6) tracks:

What scholarships are awarded?
The Firrst Place Champion receives $7500 (USD) for 2013 exams and $5000 (USD) for 2010 exams along with a medal of achievement and certificate. The Second Place winner receives $3750 (USD) for 2013 exams and $2500 (USD) for 2010 exams along with a medal of achievement and certificate. The Third Place Winner receives $1500 (USD) for 2013 exams and $1000 (USD) for 2010 exams along with a medal of achievement and certificate.
When is the Championship taking place in my country?
Although this Championship is available worldwide, availability, rules, and dates vary by country. During the Qualifying Round, countries all around the world are hosting local competitions to determine Regional/Country Champions. How are the Word, Excel® and PowerPoint® Country Champions selected?
Country Champions will be selected in one of two ways by the Certiport competition operator in each country*:
Top Score Method: Competition Operator reviews the competition results for the country and selects the student with the top score for Word, the student with the top score for Excel® per track and the student with the top score for PowerPoint® per track (version 2010 or 2013). These students represent the country at the World Championship Event. Certiport retains the right to review local Competition Operator selections.
Country Final Method: Competition Operator reviews the competition results for the country and invites several top students, to compete at a country finals event. The winners of the country finals event (in Word, Excel® and PowerPoint®) represent the country at the World Championship Event. Certiport retains the right to review Competition Operator selections.
In the event two participants in the same country have the same high Exam score, the participant who completed the Exam in the least amount of time will be the winner. Decisions of Competition Operators and judges are final.

How are the World Champions in Word, Excel® and PowerPoint® selected?
All Regional/Country Champions will be invited to the World Championship Event to compete for the title of the World Champion in Word 2010 or 2013, Excel® 2010 or 2013 and PowerPoint® 2010 or 2013. At the World Championship Event, all Regional/Country Champions will be tested in a proctored lab on their respective exams. Generally, students will only be asked to complete their exams one time, however, in rare instances Certiport may require a second round of testing.
All participants in the World Championship will be responsible for preparing themselves to compete in their respective exams. Certiport and/or Certiport’s partners may provide students with preparation materials to help facilitate each student’s training on the software.
How does Certiport select the winning score?
If two students at the World Championship Event have the same high exam score on the unique comprehensive exams, the finalist who completed the exam in the least amount of time will be the winner. Decisions of judges are final. Winners will be notified during the student awards ceremony. Odds of winning will depend on the number of students competing in each exam division.
Where can I take an eligible exam?
Eligible exams can be taken at any Academic Certiport Authorized Testing Center.
Can I take an exam in any language?
Yes. During the Qualifying Round of the Championship, students may participate in any of the eligible exam regardless of the language. However, during the World Championship all finalists will be required to test using a specially designed version of Microsoft Office Specialist Word 2010, Word 2013, Excel® 2010, Excel® 2013 or PowerPoint® 2010, PowerPoint® 2013. The final championship exams are available in a limited number of languages. All Country Champions will be required to test in one of these languages at the World Championship Event regardless of native or first language. How many times can I take an eligible exam for the Championship?
There is no limit to the number of times a student may sit for any particular eligible exam as long as he/she is not in violation of the Microsoft Office Specialist exam retake policy. Students who fail to abide by the Microsoft Office Specialist exam retake policy will be immediately disqualified from the Championship. Certiport retains the right to disqualify students for appropriate cause.
How many different types of eligible exams can I submit into the Competition?
During the Qualifying Round, a Student can participate in MULTIPLE Exam tracks. For example, they can submit an Excel 2010 and Excel 2013 Exam. However, if they qualify to participate in a Regional/Country Round or the Final Round in Dallas, Texas, USA, they can only compete in only ONE Exam track.
